Both Holmes and Polamalu to Miss Monday’s Game

New York Jets kicker Mike Nugent, left, leaves the field with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes after Nugent kicked a 38-yard field goal in overtime to beat the Steelers 19-16 during NFL football Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

As expected, the Steelers will be without two big playmakers Monday night when they play host to the slumping and winless Miami Dolphins at home.  Wide out Santonio Holmes and safety Troy Polamalu will both miss the game with injuries.  Troy has a sprained knee, while Holmes is out with a sprained ankle.  Both have been listed as doubful for the game, but neither has taken the practice field at all this week, and instead we’ll be seeing Tyrone Cater for Troy and Nate Washington for Holmes.  At this point Holmes may be missed more for a Steelers offense that struggled against the one-win Jets team last week.  Holmes leads the team with 39 catches for 664 yards and seven scores, including their only TD last week.
