It’s been a busy day for the Black and Gold, as they first wrapped up their mega-deal with QB Ben Roethlisberger, and now the team has announced that they have come to terms on a three-year deal with now former Vikings back Mewelde Moore. He is a solid third-down back as well as he can return kicks for the Steelers, which is something the team remains in search of. Last season he rushed the ball just 20 times for 113 yards and no touchdowns.
Back in 2005, Moore played quite a bit as a regular running back for the Vikings, rushing for 662 yards on 155 carries and one score. He also can catch the ball out of the backfield, as that season he had 37 catches for 339 yards, in 06 he had 46 grabs for 468 yards, but this past season had only 6 catches for 48 yards. While the Steelers don’t need a ton of things in the free agent market, Moore should fill the third-down back role nicely.

i like the signing. we need a punt returner in the worst way. hopefully he can excel at kickoffs as well.

I like this move. This kid can flourish in Pittsburgh. Surely this is another option for the Offense, but I really wanted to see FWP out there a few more times on 3rd down. I guess saving FWP from too many touches and tackles is the primary goal though.I figure this kid will be in mix in the return game too, but I hope we are looking for more options there too.
