Matchups to Watch for Sunday’s Showdown

From: Yahoo Sports

Ravens ROLB Terrell Suggs vs. Steelers LT Max Starks. Suggs leads the Ravens with 6.5 sacks while Starks has done a good job replacing injured Marvel Smith.

Steelers RB Willie Parker vs. Ravens LB Ray Lewis and Ravens run defense. The Steelers want to run, but Lewis and Co. will have something to say about it.

Steelers S Ed Reed vs. Steelers S Troy Polamalu. They won’t be on the field at the same time, but they’re the two best safeties in the game and could determine its outcome.

I know that the Giants are a better running team then the Steelers, but the G-men really took it to the Ravens on the ground last month. I do think the STeelers can be successful on the ground as long as they stick with it. They wont need 175 yards rushing, although it would be nice. What they need is the ability to get some first downs from the running game. Avoid as many 3 and outs as possible because they are throwing 3 out of 4 downs. This will leave the defense well rested and help Ben manage the game better. I do think this all starts and ends with the O-line. Its a tough task to protect and run against the Ravens, but I do think the Steelers are playing just as confident as the Ravens. Top to bottom, the Steelers are the better team. If they avoid multiple sacks and turnovers, they win this game by 10 points.

I actually agree with Mark’s comments. I think we are the better team and if the O-Line does its job, don’t allow any sacks or turnovers we should beat the Ravens.

    Prediction:

    Pittsburgh 24
    Baltimore 9

    Big Ben 20-25 227 yds 1TD (Ward)
    Willie 24-106 2TD
    Jeff Reed FG

WOW,Tim I would love that scenario! I dont know how Willie will get 106 though. Ben can get a lot out of screens and quick hots against the Ravens. Soften them just enough to go deep a few times. I dont think the Ravens will have any extra players in the box because they dont think the Steelers can run on them anyway. Look for stretch plays, draws out of the shotgun and the quick reads.I will say this, 24 points SHOULD be good enough to win.
