Will the Steelers Play Into the Ravens Trash Talking?

And so it begins.

While a lot of the talk in the locker room Sunday after the win was about the Chargers, there sure was quite a bit of talk about the AFC Title game vs the Ravens on Sunday.  The Steelers know the mind games that the Ravens will try to draw them into with their mouths, and they are ready for them and for the Ravens tactics.

“There are no secrets for both of us,” OL Willie Colon said. “They know what we’re going to do; we know what they’re going to do. When we’re playing each other now, it’s just pretty much rolling the ball out and getting after each other.”

There will not be any secrets when the two teams play, and that is going to be one aspect that is a lot of fun.  One thing I would be willing to bet is that defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau will come up with some interesting looks for rookie Joe Flacco, who to me hasn’t been all that great in the Ravens two playoff wins.

“We’re excited. We got a tough, tough, tough game coming in. They know us. We know them. It’s going to be a big challenge. But we’re one step away. We’re happy to be at home,” said defensive end Brett Keisel. “Both teams know what’s at stake. Both teams like to run the ball and play tough, hard-nosed defense. It’s going to be a very physical game.”

The Ravens injury report is going to be extensive, as they were beat up vs the Titans on Saturday, while the Steelers seemed to come out of the Chargers game as close to 100 percent as any team still playing in the postseason.  “There’s a big, black, ugly bird standing between us and Tampa,” said offensive tackle Max Starks. “It’s the only obstacle in our way before we can go.”

    Hello Steeler Fans,

I am a lifelong Steeler fan and I have been reading the posts on this site for a while and finally decided to comment. I am also the owner of a newer online clothing store call Avete Osservato. My shop name means “made you look” in Italian. I specialize in creating shirt designs that reflect the city of Pittsburgh and the local sports teams. I have many Steeler designs. The shop is a hobby of mine and I have a ton of fun doing it. The problem is that my marketing budget is $0. I don’t make enough money off of the shirts to afford expensive advertising cost. I get most of my business from word of mouth and from posting my shop link where ever I can. I am an avid member of SteelersFever.com and they have been great to my business. If you are interested, please check out my shop at http://madeyoulook.spreadshirt.com

If you have any ideas for shirts, feel free to email me at aveteideas@gmail.com

Thank you and I look forward to becoming a member here and to talking Steelers football!

Tim, that is VERY optomistic! I like the enthusiasm, but I dont know if the Steelers score 31? Maybe 23 or 26 on a GOOD day against the Ravens. However, if they make some breaks, get some turnovers and score off of them, they could put the Ravens in a hole they are not capable of coming out of. I said in a post this morning that if they (FWP) can convert the 2nd and 4 and the 3rd and 2’s on the ground, they can put the Ravens in a very uncomfortable position of not stopping the Steelers in big spots. The running lanes will open the passing lanes and I say the Ravens are susceptible to deep throws. Everyone is afraid of Reed, but he cant be everywhere all the time(although it sometimes looks like it). The same gameplan that worked Sunday will work again this weekend.

We’ve heard a lot of talking heads commenting about how it’s impossible to beat a team 3 times. On the other hand, there’s also a lot of talk on how the Steelers just “barely” won those games, and “controversial calls”, etc. The Steelers played those games with lots of injuries, and in my opinion they have more to prove, because even after beating the Ravens twice and with an injured team, they still don’t get any respect. They should KNOW they’re the better team and that the score on the first two games didn’t do justice. They need to beat the crap out of the Ravens this Sunday. That would be my message to them.

Cant argue with that. This time its the Ravens that are a bit banged up and hopefully this is what the Steelers can use to finish this thing off against their arch nemesis. One thing I am worried about is the “Curse of S.I”. The Steelers are on the cover this week!

Mark, the Steelers were on the cover of S.I. four times in ’05 en route to their super bowl 40 championship! I know this because they are still framed and hanging on my wall.
