The Steelers today lost one of their bigger free agents, as wide out Nate Washington inked a six-year, $27 million dollar deal with the AFC rival Tennessee Titans. As the Steelers number three wide out last year, Washington had 40 catches for 631 yards and three touchdowns. He will be missed for his ability to stretch the field, as he was the teams fastest wide out, and was known for making big plays.
Washington came to the Steelers as an undrafted free agent back in 2005 from Tiffin College. He made his first pro catch in the Steelers AFC Title game win in Denver enroute to the Super Bowl XL victory over the Seahawks 21-10. The team will now turn to last years second-round draft pick, Limas Sweed, as the teams new number three wide out. Let’s hope that he forgets his drop in the AFC Title game vs the Ravens that was a sure touchdown.
