Michael Vick to the Steelers?!

Vick Reinstated Football
Well, you knew that it was coming – Michel Vick to the Steelers. Yes, to me, the longest of long-shots, but Bloomberg news reports today that BetUS reports that it is favored to happen. Whatever. Here’s the report:

Michael Vick’s second chance in the National Football League is most likely to come from the New England Patriots or Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the Internet gambling Web site BetUS.com. Vick was conditionally reinstated to the NFL yesterday, a week after completing a 23-month sentence for running a dogfighting ring. The NFL said that the former Pro Bowl quarterback can practice immediately and play in the preseason’s final two games if he can find a team that will sign him. The Patriots and Super Bowl-champion Steelers are given 4-1 odds of adding Vick by BetUS.com. They’re followed by the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills at 9-2, meaning a winning $100 bet would return $450 plus the original wager.

Vick could not be the starting QB in Pittsburgh (nor in New England, for that matter). And the Steelers don’t need the distraction that Vick would be. He could fit in as a wide receiver or running back, if he is willing to do that. But again, I don’t see him in da ‘burgh.

    My guess, Dallas or Cincy.

This is insane. As a city of champions resident, I can assure you that we do not want a dog murderer here nor do the Steelers!

Don’t you think it is just the opposite? Steelers and Patriots are the least likely, so they give the best odds that he will on two teams that won’t, so then they keep you cash with very little risk to themselves? Just a thought.

I think the steelers can use him in mutiple positions. as well as a decent backup. Ben does have issue but they will work that out. ben gets banged up ever now and then. could lead to him playing a little and also auditon for a job next yr. I’d like to see dennis used as a receiver, too much talent to waste. plus we don’t need the pats getting anymore of an advantage.

Michael Vick on third downs with ben on the field would be a NASTY combo. The man did his time and pay his dues but to deny his skill is retarded. Check your feelings and realize that him on the steelers would be awesome. Damn, the man had 1000 yards rushing, you cant tell me that the Steelers O with trick plays wouldn’t benefit from this. You thought randle El was good, wait and see what Vick does in that situation wearing the good old black and gold.

Bring em to the burgh before he winds up somewhere else. The guy is way to talented to pass on and if he ends up with a division rival or with somebody who we have to see in the post season, all the yinzers out there will be sick! The guy would add a dimension that you just coldn’t game plan for. Hello Wildcat! They would have to come up with a new name for what they could do with Hines,Santonio, and him lined out wide or He and Hines in the backfield. Besides, Ben could concentrate more on his game because all the attention would go straight to Vick. Just Sayin

If they wanted someone that could run, punt, return and throw… why didn’t they pick up Pat White? He’s young, talented, and would have been had for cheap. He has said repeatedly that he has been a Steeler fan forever. True character and a whole lot of talent to build on. He is going to be Miami’s secret weapon!

I have lived in Pittsburgh my whole life and bleed black and gold like everyone else, but that will be end of “Steeler Sundays” in our household.

        July 30, 2009 at 8:20 am

Why? Because the guy had dog fights at his house? Get over it. Being a Steeler fan, I want the Steelers to win the super bowl every year, this would help the team do that for at least one year. They could not keep him after one season but that then opens the door to some great trades. Dee, stay out of the conversation if you can not offer valid points pertaining to this discussion. If MV coming to the Steelers would end your steelers sundays then you need to hang it up now and go for dog walks then.

I think pittsburgh would be a great fit for Vick. He’s a man who has admitted his wrong doings and served his time, he deserves a second chance. Now as a football player, at any given time he will be the most dangerous player on the field. Im willing to take my chances rather than see him hurt us in the future playing for another organization.

all the hater who say oh he killed dogs people in the nfl killed people cause they were drunk but thats ok. bring vick to tha burgh and when he comes and we win a nother superbowl because of him all you haters dont celebrate cause he killed some dumb ass dogs

dumb ass dogs?!? are you f’ng kidding me. Your ignorance disgusts me.
Pittsburgh does not need Vick or the drama surrounding him. What next bring back Plaxico and rehab him. NO THANKS! I agree he’s a good player but they don’t need a QB esp one surrounded by controversy when they have enough already with what’s going on with Roethlisburger right now. Let a team who needs a QB have him!

I think Vick has served his time and getting into an organization like the Steelers is just what he needs. People should get a second chance. If this was one of your family members you would feel differently for all you Michael Vick haters. I say sign him up!

I love it!!!! Bring him in and it would be like Stewart….get him in there and punt, run trick plays. He served his time..everyone does things they regret. Paid his time now get back to what he does best and play some ball!!

Michael Vick has paid his debt to society… bullsh*t. They tore every tooth out of a female dog so she couldnt fight against being raped by other dogs. 84 dogs were found in a mass grave from losing fights. I have loved the Steelers since i wa born, 1st game i was 9 days old. We have always been defined by being all heart. We don’t need trash representing what we have spent blood sweat n tears proving for decades. That gimmicks, drama kings, and prima donnas need not apply. The Steel Curtain isnt a stage.

      August 12, 2009 at 9:25 pm

Thank you and exactly. He is everything the Steelers don’t represent. We don’t need trash and we don’t need “Superstars”. It’s a TEAM, not a one-man-show.
Do you doubt the Steeler defense? I don’t.
Yes, his talent is there but did anyone watch the Falcons last year? Funny, winning season and the quarterback name wasn’t Vick!

I am a diehard Steelers fan, have never been a Vick fan even before the dog fight incident, but I must admit, it is very tempting………it’s not like he’s Pac Man Jones or T.O. who have been team distractions since they entered the league. He would be the 2009 version of Slash. He would have to accept the fact that he is a backup quarterback. It might be worth the risk, just the threat of an athlete that good would keep defensive coordinators up all night.

Vick might be an awesome athlete but growing up in the Pittsburgh and living there for 26 years taught me one thing that a lot of other cities don’t grasp. That is class. Pittsburgh people have class, the Steelers have class, and the whole Rooney organization. Vick has been to jail and did his time, but he won’t get a chance with Pittsburgh because he lacks class. The Rooneys already know this. And anyone else who has this city in their heart. Stop the rumors.

Please, please, please. I just pray that you are right.

That would be the stupidist thing that the Steelers would do in hiring Vick. The Steelers have a good reputation and helping the community. This guy thought only of himself. Completely the opposite of what the Steelers are about. The bad press alone would kill this team.I am a true Steeler fan, born and raised. It is not if you are a fan or not, I would not support the team any longer if this asshole comes in…the guy is bad juju!!!!!!!
