Story says Steelers chatting with Oakland about Roethlisberger

With the story that both the Rams and Bills have no interest in trading for Ben Roethlisberger, there appears to be only one real shot for the team to trade the QB, and that’s to the Oakland Raiders. Reports from NFL.com blogger Jason LaCanfora state that the Steelers and Raiders are talking about a move that would send the troubled QB to Oakland for the Raiders first round pick.

According to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, the Raiders are in contact with the Steelers about a trade for Ben Roethlisberger. La Canfora says Oakland “might be (the) only real option” for Pittsburgh if the Steelers are truly prepared to wash their hands of the 28-year-old QB. The Raiders, smartly (for once), appear to have realized that JaMarcus Russell is a bust, and very arguably the biggest in NFL history. The Steelers might ask for Nnamdi Asomugha in addition to Oakland’s No. 8 overall pick.

If the Steelers could get Asomugha and the 8th overall pick, it would be almost a given they would make that move. Then again, things seem to be moving so quickly in terms of the Steelers looking to move the QB, I would say that if Oakland would take Roethlisberger for the 8th pick, they would probably do it at this point.

    well if the Steelers can get pick 8 and Asomugha (sp*)that would be tempting. With those two picks the Steelers can sure up the O-Line but I really cant imagine Ben wearing anything but black and gold

    For pick 8 and Asomugha, I’d take the deal in a minute. So long Ben.

    Asomugha is a shut-down corner, which the Steelers badly need, but his contract is almost as rich as Ben’s and his ego is even bigger. Temperamentally, he isn’t a Steel City guy, and he probably wouldn’t be in Pgh more than one season anyway. An interesting conjecture, but where’s the long-term value? The Steelers can do better than this.

    TRADING BEN IS THE STUPIDESS THING THAT COULD HAPPEN. LET HIM SIT A WHOLE YEAR IF NEED BE AND GET A GREAT DRAFT CHOICE NEXT YEAR. HAVE BEN REHABILATED TO THE MORAL VALUES OF OUR COUNTRY AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS. WHICH IS THE LOWEST OF ALL. WALL STREET ROBS PEOPLE EVERYDAY AND WE DEAL WITH THAT. FOX NEWS STATION TELLS MY LIES THAN THE POPE. GIVE ME A BREAK BEN IS JUST A MAN NOT GOD. LET HIM PLAY FOOTBALL TILL HE BREAKS THE LAWS AND IS FOUND GUILTY AT LAST I HEARD HE’S INNOCENT OF NO CRIME. ALL YOU RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE OUT THERE CAST THE FIRST STONE. WHO DO WE WANT ANOTHER KORDELL STEWART (FAG) OR BUBBY BRISTER A ROLE MODEL. LEAVE BEN ALONE AND LOOK AT THE GOP PARTY IF YOU WANT TO LOOK AT CROOKS AND LIERS. WOMANIZING IS BEEN GOING FOR CENTURIES.

    I just read an article by Jason Laconfora which was posted at about 8:00 pm 4/21/10 where it states that the Steelers would be willing to send Ben, THE 18TH PICK!?! to the Raiders for the 8th overall pick! First of all, getting rid of Ben is not a good idea; like I said before, much research needs to be done before getting rid of his caliber of player—but giving him up and your first round pick just for the 8th overall pick is straight up insanity! That’s why I believe a deal is not going down; at least not before the draft. The Steelers are putting or trying to put the fear of God in Ben with all this nonsense talk…If it works, they get their man back rehabbed and all…if it doesn’t, they’ll find out through his future actions and attitude and move him for picks next year or keep him through the year and move him in the offseason after another season of 3-4 thousand yards passing and 25 TD’S when his stock is higher…the ironic thing about that last scenario is that by then, most of the negative PR will have dwindled with time.

    I would make the trade Oakland’s No. 8 overall pick and Nnamdi Asomugha.
    But I still say trade him to the Bungles for Carson Palmer even up.
    Ben would look good in stripes, either tiger stripes or prison stripes.

    Ben guilty of the George Bush problem, no brain. We are financially in problems we are in because of a moron for eight years named George W. Big Ben has the same problem but with help from the Steelers and therapy Ben can make a great comeback. Same as Tiger. Where voting for a GOP candidate just shows your braindead or rich.

    I wonder what Oakland would from the Steelers if they sent Bruce Arians along with Ben? I’ll bet the Steelers could get a laundry basket of dirty jock straps for that douche bag.

    I just contacted raidersgab with this post;
    Dear Oakland Raiders organization, as a lifelong Steelers fan, I would like to propose a trade. The Steelers will trade their two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback, and occasional female groper, to your fine franchise, for the Raiders 8th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
    They will also sent along their Offensive Coordinator Bruce Arians along with Ben for a laundry basket of dirty jock straps.
    Hopefully it helps.
