NFL allows Roethlisberger to return to the team

QB Ben Roethlisberger can return to the Steelers, as today the NFL cleared the QB to return to practice. According to a statement, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will still keep tabs on Roethlisberger.

“The commissioner will continue to monitor Roethlisberger’s progress as he begins the next phase of his recommended plan and will meet with Roethlisberger again at the appropriate time,” according to the statement.

Despite being allowed to return to the practice field, there has been no change to the length of his six-game suspension.

“Commissioner Goodell announced that Roethlisberger is suspended without pay for the first six games of the regular season. The commissioner said he would review Roethlisberger’s progress prior to the start of the regular season and consider whether to reduce the suspension to four games. Failure to cooperate and follow his plan could result in a longer suspension,” the statement said.”

In a separate statement, Steelers President Art Rooney II says the organization looks forward to having Ben return to practice.
