RT Colon Suffers Achilles Injury; Team Awaiting MRI Results

The Steelers got what could be devastating injury news today as it is being reported that right tackle Willie Colon suffered an Achilles injury while working out at the Steelers practice facility on the South Side this morning. Steelers Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert confirmed the injury this afternoon.

Colbert said that the club is waiting for results of an MRI on Colon to see how bad the injury may be.

“It is confirmed that offensive tackle Willie Colon has suffered an Achilles injury while working out today,” Colbert said in a statement this afternoon. “He is still undergoing further evaluations by Steelers’ medical personnel and we will not have anything more to release at this time.”

While it’s not official, anytime you hear Achilles injury, you right away fear the worst, which could be the case here as well. Losing Colon would be a huge injury on the teams O-line to say the least.
