Ward on the Steelers Being the Underdog – “We Like it Like That”

Hines Ward says on his official Facebook account that he likes being the underdog, as does the rest of the team:

Having a good camp so far. The team is starting to come together. I think we all know that we may be starting out the season as underdogs in our division but we like it like that. We thrive on adversity. So stay tuned. And a big shout out to Coach Lebeau for his Hall of Fame career. We are proud of Coach.

    Hi all.

For those of you that have made it to training camp, I have a question for you: What is the story with Kraig Urbik?

We drafted him in the 3rd round last year (right before Wallace), but it seems as if he is almost invisible from a media coverage standpoint. His name isn’t even mentioned as one of the people competing at guard. Is he a bust? He made the team last year but never dressed. I really haven’t heard anything (good or bad) about him, but not competing for guard when the O-line had so many problems last year doesn’t sound good. If anyone out there has any insight, I’d appreciate it.

Right now Urbik is listed as the 2nd string next to Essex, and while he hasn’t gotten a ton of coverage, I have heard the team still has belief he can make it in this league and be a decent guard.

While it’s a critical preseason for him, if he plays well, I think he’ll get more time on the line this year.

Thanks for the replay Matt. It will be nice to see if he develops and can eventually be paired with Pouncey to solidify the interior of the line for years to come.
