Taylor Says “Sorry” For Getting Tossed in Giants Game

Four plays into Saturday Ike Taylor found a way to get himself thrown out after throwing a punch at Giants WR Hakeem Nicks.

Today Taylor said “sorry” for putting his temper before the team.

“I should know better,” Taylor said. “I apologize to my teammates, apologize to my fans. I lost my cool, but it won’t happen again.” Mike Tomlin characterized the exchange as “dumb.”

Both Taylor and Nicks were kicked out after the exchange, while the Steelers won the game 24-17, Taylor has to watch his temper and not be as dumb as he was Saturday night.

“I was blocking downfield and trying to finish my block,” Nicks said. “The next thing I knew, he was throwing punches, so I tried to defend myself.”

James Farrior said that Taylor needs to think about what his ejection means for the entire team.

“That’s a selfish play,” Farrior said. “You’ve got to think about more than just yourself. We need him out there. He understands that, but this one doesn’t count. That’s the good thing.”
