As we all speculated earlier, we got the good ones back. To be candid, I’m surprised that some of this talent made it through waivers. I am even more surprised to find E. Bright back in black adn gold. He seems destined to be a perennial practice squad player.

Perhaps the Post-Gazette will get to see F. Summers run at RB now, at least in practice. The rest are promising developmental players, and Grisham, who played occasionally in games last season and impressed in pre-season, is clearly good enough to make the team, were it not for the extraordinary talent level ahead of him. I fully expect him to be on the field come game day, either in Pittsburgh or elsewhere, before the end of the season.

The downside to being a perennial practice squad player is that by NFL rules, you can be on the practice squad for no more than three consecutive seasons with the same team.

Besides, there is no incentive to remaining a “perennial” practice squad live body.
