Dixon to have surgery Wednesday on his left knee

QB Dennis Dixon will go under the knife on Wednesday, as Mike Tomlin announced he will have surgery on the meniscus in his left knee.

Dixon was injured in the first half of the 19-11 victory at Tennessee on Sunday, with Charlie Batch playing most of the final three quarters—his most extensive game action since 2007.

Byron Leftwich, expected to start during Ben Roethlisberger’s four-game suspension, sat out the first two games with a sprained left knee from the final preseason game.
