Harrison hit with a $20,000 for hit on Brees

The NFL has made it official, as LB James Harrison has been hit with yet another fine.

Today the NFL announced a $20,000 for the late hit penalty Sunday on Saints quarterback Drew Brees. The penalties total $100,000, including a $75,000 fine for his October 17th helmet hit that left Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi with a concussion.

“The amount of money is becoming an issue,” Harrison said Thursday. “The fines that they issued to me, two of them weren’t even called penalties. I don’t even know what to say anymore.”

The $75,000 fine was handed out the week the NFL adopted its tougher stance on hits to the head and neck, a policy that briefly led Harrison to consider retiring.

Harrison was summoned to New York to meet Tuesday with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss the NFL’s stricter enforcement of dangerous hits. Harrison termed the meeting “semi-productive,” and he said it included a discussion about the Brees hit.

On that play, Harrison was given a roughing-the-passer penalty for tackling Brees from behind after the quarterback threw a pass.

I’m going to be watching for consistency from team to team in terms of the way they dole out these fines. Gary Guyton, LB for the Tapetriots had a roughing the passer penalty called against him for hitting Favre. It was a helmet to helmet hit where he lead with his helmet. This was a different play than the one where his chin was cut. If he gets no fine then the NFL needs to answer for that. The way the evidence from Spygate was destroyed so quickly we know that the Pats owner Bob Kraft has an influence on the NFL offices.

I agree Jeff. It seems that the Steelers are always targets for something each year by the NFL.

How much of a douche bag does his Imperial Highness Lord Goodell have to be to have Troy Polamalu calling him out?

Polamalu said NFL players are becoming paranoid about what they can and can’t do on the field. He also said Goodell has too much power in deciding fines.

“It’s football, you know. If people want to watch soccer then they can watch soccer,” Polamalu said during a lunchtime interview. “But, honestly, overseas when people are attracted to this game, they’re going to see the big hits, they’re not going to care about touchdowns and different things. So you’re also taking apart what attracts people to this game.

The morons on NFL.com can’t understand why Polamalu, a player who has suffered at least seven concussions would react like this. I can, he knows that he is going to be hit and injured at times, he’s not playing flag football. They should put flags on quarterbacks, tightends and receivers, then they wouldn’t get hurt. Or make it two-hand tag for them, there you go problem solved. Morons.

It’s time to fire Goodell before he completely ruins the NFL.

Bottom line is the soft NFL is trying to lobby to get 18 games….If they push for enforcing this ridiculous rule, then they (conceivably) can: one, protect their product by (attempting) to reduce injuries and, two, if not, at least they (litigiously) covered their vaginas, I mean asses, by saying, “See, we tried to reduce injuries, and blah, blah…” It’s all about procuring their coveted 18 games and $$$$$$$! I wish they would come out and say that in lieu of hiding behind this player safety bullshit. Nothing (in this case the NFL) that ever gets as big as the NFL currently is EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER does anything altruistically, PERIFUCKINGUD!!!!!! PERIOD! The only thing (that’s REALLY REALLY big) that comes remotely close is the Catholic church and we kinda know how that’s going (how do ya get a nun pregnant….dress her like an alter boy!)…..Hypocrisy at its finest, Gooddell, way to go, way to remove integrity, principle, valor, honor, truth, substance, character, trust and replace it with greed, avarice, lies, double standards, deceit! I am seriously disenfranchised with the NFL…Maybe Europe can take over because that’s who’s next on this expansion list. I actually, no shit, get more satisfaction from playing Madden right now…I get to do what I want, no one sends me a fine when I light someone up and it relaxes me! Isn’t that what football is supposed to do for a fan to some extent, relax and getaway after a long work week for menial pay?!? Not get us worked up because we’re wondering where the fuck our sport has gone and we’re wondering if the principles in which it was founded and carried on are in the process of being usurped for megalomaniacal american greed?
    FUCK YOU NFL!

    Wow!
I feel bad 4 the Catz who play their position w/such a passion, only 2 have it subdued w/the threat of a five digit fine. If itz justified az malicious, then take the proper actionz. I liken it 2 a drag racer tryN 2 hit the brakes B4 crossin’ the finish line, awl Bkawz sum1 shouted, ” Stop! “.
Lord only knows what will happen next. N my opinion, the playerz put out more than enuff physically, & mentally az it iz. They shoodn’t hafta play an 18 game Czun. If the Catz N the front office did wut the playerz did day N & out, mayhapz they wud understand.
God Bless the Steelers & the fraternity of NFL Playerz who want to play the game of football the way we 1nce knew it.
    Innaminnit, Psa150!=tgr.
