Super Bowl XLV to Be Kicked Off by Christina Aguilera

In a move that follows along the lines of the NFL trying to stay with big female artists for the National Anthem, the league is bringing in Christina Aguilera to belt out the song prior to the big game between the Steelers and Packers.

The former member of the “Mickey Mouse Club” along with Brittney Spears recently starred in the theater release “Burlesque,” along with Cher.

Last year, Carrie Underwood sang before the Colts-Saints game, and two years ago in Tampa it was another former American Idol star Jennifer Hudson signing the song before the Steelers and Cardinals.

So did the NFL get it right? Seems that they are trying to stay with mainstream artists, but the league could have went with a star a little more in the spotlight, like Katy Perry or Lady Gaga. We shall see if Aguilera’s version is one to remember or forget come February 6th.
