Roethlisberger Claims He and Arians Wanted to Throw More

Ben Roethlisberger says that both he and Bruce Arians wanted to pass more than they did during the 2010 season but did not for similar reasons — pressure from others to run more often according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

“If he were, I don’t want to say ‘allowed,’ but his preference would be to throw the ball more, use the weapons we have and throw it,” Roethlisberger said.

“Mine’s the same way. But we both think the same in the no-huddle, that we call a lot more runs because we know that’s what we’re supposed to do. And I don’t know if that’s ‘supposed to’ from the fans, the media, the owner, who knows? But it’s just a feeling that you have that we better run the ball some. So we do think alike in a lot of those ways. It’s funny because we’ll go into some games with the intent of running the ball and establishing it because you do need to run the ball.

“I’m not saying you should never run the ball. We do go in and establish that we have to run. But it’s funny, it’ll be like the fourth quarter and we’ll be down or something and Mike will come to me and BA and be like, ‘OK, have at it, start throwing the ball.’ It’s like ‘all right it’s yours’ and usually we go out and throw the ball and win the game. Who knows what it is? That’s part of the politics probably in coaching, which is why I’m not a coach. I’m just a player. I do what I’m told.”

Suspicions confirmed. Neither one of them understands why the Steelers need a better ground game.

The whole philosophy of Steelers football is to play great defense, and control the football on offense.
Ben Roethlisberger is an egotistical douche bag, and Bruce Arians is a Cleveland Clowns reject. It still boggles my mind how you hire a guy and make him your offensive coordinator after he was fired from he same position with the Clowns.
The Steelers should have fired Arians after he went to Roethlisberger and told him that any play in the playbook that Ben didn’t like would be removed.
Roethlisberger takes too many sacks and throws too many interceptions, the Steelers would be better off if they took the ball out of his hand and ran it more.

@ DrGeorge — You make a lot of good points whenever i read your comments but you tend to over analyze. I am pretty sure that they do understand why we need a better ground game.

@ Ben Dover — You just don’t know what the hell your talking about and all of steeler nation know that your a hater from B-more. Ben is the best QB we have had since Terry Bradshaw. The “Only 2 QB’s that ever brought rings to the Steelers.

Steel Q”ueer”, I am not from Baltimore you punk-assed moron. I’ve lived 43 of my 46 years in western Pennsylvania and know more about Steelers football than you ever will. I know this is anathema to Steelers fans, but Neil O’Dumbell was a better quarterback than Roethlisberger.

The only thing you know about Terry Bradshaw is what you’ve been told. Early in Bradshaw’s career he threw far more interceptions than touch downs –ended his career with 212 TDs and 210 ints– but he protected the ball far better than Ben. What made Terry Bradshaw great was that he played his best football in the post season and Super Bowl. Ben Roethlisberger, the douche bag, plays his worst games in the Super Bowl as evidenced by his 3TDs and 5 ints in three games, that’s pathetic.

And as for you Gay, your comment of “The 1950’s (there’s no apostrophe in 1950s you idiot) called, they want your mindset back!” that may be popular at the gay bars you frequent, but this is the real world. Football is football, you win by controlling the offensive line and playing great defense. Vince Lombardi said “Football is blocking and tackling, if you block better and tackle better than your opponent you will win.” Since all of your knowledge about football was acquired playing Madden Football, you think that the Steelers should pass on every down. Oh yeah, Your village called, they want their idiot back. Pansy.

Apparently Steel Q and I hit a nerve with a very sensitive pseudoSteelers fan! Who’s the pansy you fukin’ cracker! Call Ben a Douche bag to his face or better yet, come out to gangland here in eastern PA and call me a pansy…you’re the one with the name “Ben Dover” sounds pretty damn gay to me. To say Neil O’Donnell was better than BB not only showcases your ignorance but puts you in a category of pathetic. Thank you for regurgitating Terry Bradshaw’s career statistics; now we know you an read! Get a grip on today’s (Did I use the apostrophe right you troglodyte?) NFL and realize that it involves more pass than run. The fact that you say they should run the ball more means that maybe you’re the one who plays Madden because both are fantasy land! You’re the type of fukin punk that needs his ass whooped, nigga!

Yeah I tend to agree with the BA sentiment but seriously dude, you are way off on Big ben; his INT’s are down and you win games with defense but you win championships behind the arm of your QB these days…The 1950’s called, they want your mindset back!
