Troy Polamalu Named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Safety Troy Polamalu has been named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week, the team announced on Wednesday morning.

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year had two tackles, including one for a loss, an interception and three passes defensed in the Steelers’ 13-9 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Despite the Steelers posting the league’s No. 1-ranked defense in 2011, Polamalu is the first Steelers defender to earn “Player of the Week” honors this season.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.
