Ward Releases Statement About Release: “I Am Looking Forward to Playing in the NFL Again”

Hines Ward released the following statement today about his release from the Steelers:

“This isn’t how I wanted this chapter of my career to end. I did everything in my power to remain a Steeler and finish what I started here 14 years ago. I want to thank the organization, my teammates and coaches and everyone who made my run as a Steeler the best years of my life. To Mr. Rooney, thank you for allowing me to play for one of the greatest organizations in the world. To my fans and in particular Steeler Nation, thank you for your support and all the great memories. I gave my heart and soul for you every down and I will always bleed black and gold.

“I do feel that I still have more football left in me and I am looking forward to playing in the NFL again this upcoming season.”

Dont think there will every be a steeler as classy and as iconic as Hines Ward. The poster child for HOF recievers across the board. I wish we could release one William Gay and find room for Hines but they see more than I do. Many blessings to the greatest reciever in Steeler history.

William Gay is a free agent and is in no way on the payroll of the Steelers. I wish yesterday was a retirement announcement and not a release statement. THANK YOU HINES!

For the past few seasons I cursed the name William Gay. As the season progressed this past year Gay became an actual NFL caliber starting cb. I expect some desperate team to overpay for his services. Good for Gay though, as much ridicule that man has taken over the years, very much warranted though, I hope he continues his progression as an nfl starter.
