Steelers Tell P Daniel Sepulveda He Won’t Be Back in 2012

Entering 2012 the Steelers won’t have to worry about punter Daniel Sepulveda being healthy. He won’t be with the team anymore to worry about.

Wednesday Sepulveda told the Post-Gazette he’s been told that the Steelers have told him he won’t be back with the team in 2012, this after playing parts of four seasons and missing a fifth.

Bottom line, the Steelers learned the risk the hard way of moving up and picking up a punter in the fourth round. The 28-year-old has been on injured reserve three times the past four seasons and has undergone five knee surgeries.

Jeremy Kapinos replaced him the past two years, and he will get a long look in camp.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

The guy had much promise but unfortunately never got a chance to show it . Bottom line , hes damaged goods . The Steelers had no choice but to let him go .

I had the opportunity to meet Dan and he is a super nice kid. He was an awesome punter and athlete. Had he stayed healthy, he would have been long remembered as one of the best punters of all time. Best of luck Dan in all that you do. God bless you.

I feel bad our Steelers let him go, but I know it had to be done, and Daniel would be humble enough to say it is for the best. Had the opportunity to hear Daniel speak at Westminster college – we were so impressed with his Christian values, and he was an absolute gentleman signing autographs too. Our family wishes him nothing but the best in the future. Steeler fans still love you, Daniel! Godspeed!
