Steelers Come to Terms with former LSU Tigers LB Ryan Baker; Waive Brandon Lindsey

The Steelers have inked former LSU outside linebacker Ryan Baker following a tryout today that included former Patriots outside linebacker Markell Carter, according to a league source.

Baker is an undrafted rookie free agent. Baker is a 5-foot-11, 232-pounder with 4.7 speed who earned all-conference honors as a senior. He recorded 58 tackles, 3 1/2 for losses and 1 1/2 sacks. The two-year starter had 87 tackles as a junior with 11 tackles for losses and seven sacks.

He started for two years at linebacker for the Tigers, finishing his career with 184 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. In two years as a starter, LSU’s defense ranked No. 12 nationally in total defense (307.2 ypg in 2010) and No. 2 (261.5 ypg in 2011).

He played in 50 games with 25 starts.

In picking up Baker, former Pitt linebacker Brandon Lindsey was wavied.

Lindsey signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent after a stellar career with the Panthers, where he was named second-team All-Big East following his junior season in 2010 after leading the league in sacks.
