TE Heath Miller Named Steelers MVP

It will be a long offseason for Heath Miller, but today he got a little cheering up, as he was named by his teammates as the Steelers‘ most valuable player.

Miller’s winning has historical value, as he is the first TE chosen as team MVP since the award began in 1969.

“It‘s an honor and humbling, but the overriding factor is the disappointment of the season and not doing what we set out to do,” Miller said.

The TE won’t be on the field Sunday, or for anytime in the near future, as he injured three knee ligaments during last Sunday’s 13-10 loss against Cincinnati. He had surgery on Thursday.

Miller has a team-high 71 catches for 816 yards and eight touchdowns.

“I have been saying for years that he is my favorite player, but we just never coached it up to where he got the opportunity to come out and show what he has been able to do,” safety Ryan Clark said. “If you look, game in and game out this year, when he got opportunities to deliver, he delivered.”

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

There is no doubt that nobody on the Steelers roster deserves this honor more than Heath Miller.

Miller is the antithesis of Ben Roethlisberger, if Ben had suffered the same injury as Heath, Ben would be talking about how doctors feared they would have amputate his leg above the knee to save his life from the blood clots forming in his mangina.

You never hear about contract disputes, injuries, or off the field issues with Heath, he’s all Steelers all the time, and deserves everything he earns. I love the guy.
