Former Steelers Secondary Coach Walker Dies Following Car Accident

Ed Bouchette of the Post-Gazette reports of the passing of former Steelers secondary coach Dick Walker, who passed away after a car accident in Las Vegas.

Dick Walker, who earned two Super Bowl rings coaching the Steelers’ secondary in the 1970s, died today from injuries he received in a car accident last week in Las Vegas.

Walker, 80, who lived in Nevada, coached the Steelers’ secondary from 1978 through the 1981 season. The Steelers won Super Bowls during the ’78 and ’79 seasons.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Walker died from complications of a broken neck he suffered when his car was hit by another that drove through a red light at an intersection.
