LB James Harrison Officially Released

In a move that was predicted on Friday, the Steelers have officially released linebacker James Harrison.

The club and Harrison’s agent could not agree on a reduced deal, which is the reason for the release. The Steelers made the announcement Saturday.

Pittsburgh general manager Kevin Colbert said in a statement that ”James has been an integral part of our success during his years in Pittsburgh and has helped us win two Lombardi trophies during that time. We appreciate all of his efforts and wish him the best.”

Harrison was the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 after setting a team record with 16 sacks.

The five-time Pro Bowl player has the longest interception return in Super Bowl history, a 100-yarder for a score against the Arizona Cardinals in 2009.

This has been a very bad day for me and all of the Steelers fans. Why couldn’t you work alittle harder, Jameswill always be a Steeler, it will be really hard watching football. And I fight with my family over the tv when the Steelers are playing, doesn’t having a man who is respected and loved mean anything? He gave his all and this is what he got shame on you.

Very bad mistake again by the steelers. Players that stay loyal to the team get released when they still play good when they deserve not to take a cut in pay. Yeah he will be35 big deal he played like a 20 year old and anybody no matter their age can have injuries it is a contact sport the last time i checked. What does that say to the younger players play well and be loyal but eventually we will release you wow i would not want to play there
