It’s another setback, at least in theory, for QB Ben Roethlisberger, who according to coach Mike Tomlin had minor surgery on his right knee that was the result of slight discomfort this offseason.
The team advised him to get the surgery done to ensure he will be completely healthy for the start of training camp. Tomlin said that he thinks that the surgery for Roethlisberger will not set him back long term.
“Earlier today, Ben had minor surgery on his right knee that was the result of slight discomfort this offseason,” Tomlin said in a statement released by the team. “We advised him to get the surgery done to ensure he will be completely healthy for the start of training camp. This surgery will have no long-term effects on his health.”

Probably best to get it out of the way now, he’s got some solid time till the start of the actual season. I’m sure that he and a bunch of other Steelers will be coming out to the Lesean Mccoy Charity Softball on June 22nd in Lancaster PA. Mike Wallace and Plaxico Burress are already confirmed to be playing along with a bunch of other big name players from the Eagles, Ravens, and others. Definitely gonna be entertaining watching those guys battle it out on the diamond for a good cause.
