Redman Seems Destined For A Roster Spot, Will He Impact The Run Game In 2013?

We’ve been talking about the situation with the Steelers run game, and the big story this past week was that RB Jonathan Dwyer might have trouble making the team if he doesn’t have a good camp.

Dwyer is up against two running backs that will fight in Latrobe for carries – Isaac Redman and rookie draft prospect Le’Veon Bell as well as veteran LaRod Stephens-Howling.

Redman is a player that really needs to step up as well, but according to Post-Gazette’s Ed Bouchette, there seems to be no question that the backs roster spot is safe.

Bouchette was questioned in his chat today about the roster spot for Redmen and if Dwyer and Redman are going into camp fighting for the same roster spot?

The response seems to point to Bowie State back having a spot on this team, something that can’t be said for Dwyer.

If both show they should be kept, I think there’s reason to keep both. There is little doubt that Redman will be on the team

Redmen this offseason has worked hard to drop some pounds from his frame to make sure he does get carries this year with the black and gold.

“I plan on coming in to training camp 10 pounds lighter and am working on getting faster.” Redman said on the team’s official website. “I have already worked with a speed coach and my goal is to get faster.

“I have started training and working out months ahead of schedule. I am on a strict diet.”

Last season Redmen rushed for 410 yards for the Steelers, and is hoping for bigger and better in 2013.
