Just like the last two times in Oakland, the Raiders did enough right, while the Steelers were in self destruct mode for most of the day.
The result was a 21-18 loss that puts the team at 2-5 on the season, and it’s a loss that once again showed just how far away this team is from being a serious contender in the AFC.
They had their chances, but it all started with the first play for the Raiders, as QB Terrelle Pryor raced 93 yards past the Steelers D to make it 7-0 early.
The offense wasn’t very good against a revamped Raiders defense, and despite having chances, the team wound up down 21-3 at the half.
Shaun Suisham missed two field goals, his first two of the season, and in the end it killed them. Ben Roethlisberger was 29-for-45 for 275 yards with a touchdown and two picks.
The defense was gashed in the first half, but wound up holding the Raiders scoreless in the second half.
The team played desperate in the fourth quarter, and did score on a Le’Veon Bell TD with 1:24 left. They got the two-point conversion, but it was too little, too late.
The team will be in New England to play the 6-2 Pats with Tom Brady.

Hindsight being 20-20, it is unfair to put blame of the loss squarely on the kicker alone. Had the offense been able to get into the end zone, he wouldn’t have had to kick them. The entire team can be summed up as too little too late.

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again , until the offensive line gets fixed once and for all , this team is on pace to have one of its worst seasons in team history . Secondly , Todd Haley has to go after the season . The two year experiment has not worked and its proven , it will not work . Him and Ben are NOT on the same page and you can clearly see it . I dont care what they say in front of a camera , its not happening . Oh and just when you think it cant get any worse , we get Tom Brady next week !

There are so many things you cant control…losing half a step with age…rebuilding when its ur time in the barrell…injuries…but its pretty obvious…despite denials by all parties…that there is no…I mean zero chemistry between Ben and Haley. You cannot…cannot…fake chemistry. Both parties should just admit it and go there seperate ways

Jeff, That is a one of the most well thought out statements I have read on this blog in a long time. There are a myriad of reasons why this team is in the position that it is in. The problems are vast and complicated. Some are beyond the working knowledge of fans like us such as salary cap issues. Others are apparent like injuries to key players and underachieving draft picks. But, one thing that does stand out is how lifeless and indifferent this offense has become. Yes, there are many of us who were calling for the head of Arians two years ago and we got what we wanted. But, I guess like someone once told me, be careful for what you wish for. You are right. There has not been enough evidence that shows a positive working relationship between Ben and Haley. And a losing record will secure major changes in the coaching staff. (However, the changes will NOT include Tomlin.)

I’ve sadi it several times, haley was let go in KC, and they are undefeated, he comes to Pgh, and I’ll let that speak for itself!
