The Steelers are losing a piece on their offensive line as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that the Cleveland Browns are set to ink Steelers free agent offensive tackle Chris Hubbard.
The deal according to Rapoport is a big one – five years, $37.5M with nearly $18M guaranteed.

The 26-year-old has spent the last four seasons with the rival Steelers, appearing in 40 games during that time.
This last season for the Steelers he appeared in 16 regular season games, starting 10. In his career he’s started 14 games for Pittsburgh.

This has nothing to do with Chris Hubbard , but it does have everything to do with the Steelers front office , blowing it and I do mean blowing it , with ex Cardinal safety Tyrann Matthew , aka the honey badger . This kid is a game changer and would have been a huge upgrade over Mike Mitchell or Robert Golden , who were both let go . The Steeler players were lobbying hard to get Matthew to come to the Steel city because they knew what this kid was . Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin didnt even give the kid a sniff . Nothing . You needed help at safety and this kid was just setting there waiting for a phone call that never came . Rest assured this will cost the Steelers . It was a stupid move that simply makes no sense . The kid signed with the Houston Texans for one year and seven million dollars . The Steelers could have easily afforded him with all the restructures they have been doing lately . Bottom line , this isnt 1979 anymore and that way of thinking has got to change in the Steelers front office . What worked back then doesnt always work that same way today . The Steelers flat out blew this one , period .
