Antonio Brown Wants Out of Pittsburgh and the Steelers….Officially

Unhappy diva wide out Antonio Brown has (for the first time) officially gone on the record requesting a trade from the Steelers, as today he tweeted out the following:

“Thank you SteelerNation for a big 9 years…time to move on and forward……….?? #NewDemands”

The tweet (which you can see below) included a retrospect of Brown in his time with the Steelers, as they drafted him out of Central Michigan in the 6th round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He’s had a memorable career with the Steelers, which includes six straight seasons with 100 receptions, the longest streak in NFL history.

He also has 837 catches, which is the most through 130 career games in NFL history and his 9,145 receiving yards over the last six seasons are the most in a six-season span in NFL history.

Yet a bitter fight ensued during the 2018 campaign between the Steelers and Brown, and it all came to a head in the final week of the season, when Brown got into what was described as a heated argument during a practice with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Brown is due a $2.5 million roster bonus on March 17th. If the Steelers do trade him before that date, they would absorb $21.12 million in dead money on their salary cap.

That amount would rise to $23.62 million if Brown is traded after March 17.

Brown, who turns 31 on July 10, is due salaries of $12.625 million in 2019, $11.3 million in 2020 and $12.5 million in 2021.

While the Steelers don’t HAVE to trade him, it would seem unlikely they are going to let this situation fester like it did last year with running back Le’Veon Bell.
