Steeler Gab Readers – One of Us Needs Our Help!

Alright, I tend to get a lot of requests to post things and put up videos and what not, but yesterday I got a request to help out a young lady who you can tell bleeds black and gold like the rest of us. So I told her after a quick email to write something up, and we’d go out of our way to help her out – so here goes:

My name is Stephanie Galbraith, I am 27 years old, I am a single mom with two kids and I am a HUGE STEELERS fan! 🙂 I am currently in a contest put on by Monster.com; the NFL to become the next Director of Fandemonium!! 🙂 This is my DREAM JOB! The only way to win this position is to get the most votes out of the 6 remaining contestants/fans. If I win I would be going to the Super Bowl and able to be present at the coin toss, Announce a pick at the 2010 Draft, Be a broadcast liaison at a 2010 NFL Thanksgiving game, Introduce players at a 2010 NFL International Series game, and get a signing bonus of $100,000!! This would be one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had!

Originally there were 200,000+ applicants, narrowed down to 32, one for each NFL team. Then the candidates were narrowed down to 8 by way of tallying votes. The top 8 went to New York where we all got to meet each other, and do some very exciting things.

The first night we went to dinner with the Monster.com crew and the other contestants where we did a photo shoot and learned what the week would hold for us.

The second day, we were paired up with our own camera crew who ran around the city of New York with us while we tried to get people on the street to throw the football with us, to cheer, to do the wave. I did some poses and ran up the stairs on the back of the ticket booth in Times Square to do my touchdown dance! 😉 Besides Times Square, I was able to go to Central Park, to almost the top of the Empire State Building (very exciting by the way), and to the Rockefeller Center with the Christmas tree all beautified with loveliness! 🙂

On the third day we went to Chelsey Pier to the indoor football field. We met Scott Caan from the Ocean movies who was our host. He had us do a trivia session, then a relay tail gate party, then we got to throw the footballs in the holes. Just so you know I was the only one to get it in all four holes!! I was announced the automatic winner. 🙂 After that we went back to the office and did a little session with a Monster representative who taught us proper interview techniques.

Then, they had us do a rap. 😐 That was nerve wrecking… They only gave us the words and the background music the night before and stuck us in front of the camera without the words. Well initially… I needed them after a minute… But I think I finished it strong. 🙂

On the fourth final day we went to the office for an interview with Jerome Bettis, Sterling Sharpe, Ted Gilvar, & John Buzzeo! So nerve wrecking!! Again! I was shaking, and Jerome Bettis saw me and told me to relax and that it wasn’t going to be as bad as I figured. That made me feel a little bit better, but still really nervous!

The website has a lot of footage of our trip to New York.

Out of the six remaining contestants I am currently in 4th place. I’ve been floating around 1st and 2nd for most of the contest seeing as how it started in November, but have recently dropped a bit. I am going for the win here, as all of us Steeler fans do every time! 😉

I would love for everyone to help out a fellow Steelers fan by voting daily at www.nfl.monster.com! You can vote one time per day, per e-mail address.
