Steelers In Good Enough Shape To Skip Runs on First Day

Head coach Mike Tomlin spoke like he was going to carry a heavy hand when it came to how hard players would have to work in training camp. While that still may happen, the first day on Monday went out like a lamb, with not many players grumbling about how hard it was.  Some of the team didn’t even have to do the 16 110-yard runs if there were there for a certain number of off season workouts.  Then those that did have to do them were so good enough that they ended up getting the last two off.  So much for making players sweat.  “We did 110s. We were scheduled to do 16 of them in required times based on position,” said Tomlin on Steelers.com. “The guys were doing so well, we cut it at 14. It didn’t look like anybody was going to have a tough time making it. It’s a testament to their preparation. Hats off to them.”

Sounds like Tomlin was pleased with where his players stood on where they were at with the shape they were in.  Of course Tomlin will push the boys as they will have five straight two-a-day practices.  That should be a good test where they find out some of the men from the boys.  Sounds like so far so good though as far as the condition of the team, as well as the attitude of their head coach.
