Next Two Road Tests Favor Steelers

Broncos QB Jay Cutler

While the teams the Steelers take on in the next two weeks have not played up to their expectations, the Black and Gold has to be able to take care of business away from the friendly confines of Hienz Field.  The Broncos are the first test, and from what we’ve all seen of them this season, the test is one that the Steelers can pass with ease.  Take two weeks ago, the Chargers went to Invesco Field and lit up Denver for 41 points in a 41-3 route.  While the game this week will likely be a lot closer, the Steelers do have the advantage, just ask Vegas who has the Steelers as a three-point favorite.

Denver has won just two games, and have dropped three straight.  They have a slumbering offense, and their defense is nowhere near as good as it was in 2006.  They have allowed a ton of yards on the ground, which is good for Willie Parker, and have fallen victim to the play-action, which is a strength of the Steelers.  In short, the Steelers should be able to move the ball, score, and hold them on defense and get out of Denver with a 5-1 record.

Then there’s the trip to Cincy to play the bumbling, stumbling 1-4 Bengals.  This team could not be more of a mess.  Marvin Lewis has no clue, the team is still a chatterbox, but the problem now is there’s no bite to their bark.  Guys like Chad Johnson can talk all the smack he wants, all you have to tell him to do right now is look at the paper on Monday morning and check the standings.  The Steelers always seem to play well at Paul Brown Stadium, and as usual always get a good crowd behind them there as well.

So don’t fret.  It’s two road games, but two winnable road games.  This is not to say they will be easy, but if the Steelers can play up to the level they have shown in their first five games, there’s no question they can be 6-1 heading for a Monday night showdown at home with the Ravens.

Steelers lose to Jags? Not so, the coaching staff is responcible for the shameful play calling on their last two offensive possessions. And this has been typical of this coaching staff this year. Why do you choose to play conservative when you are in a need to win situation?Every normal person, let alone Coach at any level knows that with 1-4 minutes on the clock and up 1 to 10 points you can not expect your defense to prevent opponents from driving right down the field when your coaches make you play a prevent defense. The offense was in a great rhythm and should have tried to score again as if they were losing. Even if you turn the ball over you won’t be any worse off than you would be if you go three and out and punt.If the ball is in your possession you control the game! The only prevent defense that works is keeping the ball on offense. If the Steelers coaching staff would have thrown to Miller or Ward on second and five and third and five they probably would have kept possession because the Jags did not stop it all night. But hey! Lets trust LaBoneheads bend don’t break until they hit the red zone! We have a reputation for hard nose aggressive football in Pittsburgh not hope and pray for a mistake by opponents offense.Any athlete would rather lose trying, than hoping! And if you have to leave it up to the defense, then play it like your losing not like you want to lose! Bottom line – Find coaches with some guts not ones who should be enjoying their golden years at home wathing not losing games and tourchering loyal fans! Good luck next year Guys! Maybe the coaches will let ya PLAY!! Keith K.
