Steelers Release Three – Tuman, Kriewaldt, Rossum

Tuman

The Steelers moved towards the future on Friday, letting go of three three veteran players: tight end Jerame Tuman, linebacker Clint Kriewaldt and cornerback and kick returner Allen Rossum.  The surprise of the bunch is Tuman, who was a fifth-round draft pick in 1999, played in 121 games in his career with the Steelers, catching 43 passes for 500 yards and seven touchdowns. He started in 56 games.  He seemed like the lunch-pail type of player the Steelers like, but with drafting Matt Spaeth last season, Tuman’s days were numbered.  As for Kriewaldt, he signed with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent in 2003. Rossum was acquired from the Falcons in September 2007 in return for a conditional 2008 draft pick.  He was okay at best this past year returning kicks.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.
