Fourth Quarter Thoughts: Can they Comeback Again?

Quick side note, the streak of the D not allowing 300 yard games is over. And with it, White scores and the Steelers are now going to trail by 10. They are in big trouble.  Nice pass by Ben on 2nd down, and a nice catch by Hines, who always seems to have big games vs the Titans.

Well, that draw play was snuffed out by the Titans. They have played well against the Steelers today, and it’s tough to think how good this team may be with Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch. Ben can’t hang onto the ball. He had a decent first half, and that big drive in the third that gave them the 14-10 lead, but since then has not made a play.

As usual, the Steelers are behind.

I am so F#cking tired of this scenario!

I am requesting that an APB be put out for the brains of Arians, Tomlin, and Roethlisberger…they have been missing since the beginning of the season.

If you see any or all of these brains, please call Dan Rooney immediately.

Select highlights from Mike Tomlin’s post game press conference:

Question: Coach, what about Willie Parker leading the team with ONLY 29 yards rushing?

Tomlin: I don’t want to get into specifics, the Titans beat us..we congratulate them and we’ll move on from here.

Question: Doesn’t it concern you heading into the playoffs that you have no rushing game at all???

Tomlin: This is a team sport. We win as a team and we lose as a team.

Question: What about Ben getting sacked 5 times???

Tomlin: This is a team sport. We win as a team and we lose as a team. I don’t want to pin this loss on any one area of our team.

Question: Aren’t you concerned with the paper thin offensive line heading into the playoffs?

Tomlin: I don’t want to get into specifics…the Titans beat us. We congratulate them and move on from here.

Question: Anything else you want to say about today’s performance, Coach?

Tomlin: I don’t want to get into specifics…the Titans beat us. We congratulate them and move on from here.

S**T! I don’t even know where to begin to bitch about today’s game. Oh well, nice to know the O line held up real well, the running game ate up HUGE chunks of yards and clock and Ben was crisp and sharp! Wait! That would have been a great dream to have…instead we get a non-existant running game, POOR O Line performance (again!) QUESTIONABLE play calling by Bruce Arians (nothing new there, HUH!?) and Ben is back to throwing interceptions.

I really could care less that next week we play the Browns. I don’t even want to say it will be an easy win…if we struggle against the impotent Brownies it will not bode well for the playoffs.

And I WILL SAY IT…will someone, ANYONE with the authority to do so in the Steeler organization PLEASE FIRE BRUCE ARIANS AT THE END OF THE SEASON!!!??? And fire the O Line coach as well!

    Tim,

    Well-written.

Arians should be fired, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

As for Tomlin, I don’t know exactly what the Rooneys were so impressed about. Week after week, it seems as if no changes are made in order to place the Steelers in a better situation to win. (e.g. why is Russell STILL returning kicks? Why not try Sweed, Holmes, Washington?)

The offense, it seems, is built to play mediocre and not make mistakes in order to win. That will last one (bad) game in the playoffs.

Regardless of how the season ends, it is very apparent to me (a football layman) that the Walrus (a.k.a Arians) has got to go, the O-line needs a major overhaul, and Ben needs to watch more game film and LEARN FROM IT!

    Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Amen to that Tim! Arians, got to go. The sooner the better. Bradshaw called better games when he was a rookie for Pete’s sake! And what’s with running the play clock down to a second or less every play? As a defender, I’d love that. No guessing when the ball will be snapped. What happened to calling two plays in the huddle? How about no huddle, quick hits on slants when it’s 3rd and 2, on and on. Oh yeah, Arians can’t think that fast.

Tomlin….nice press conference. In other words, his message to us is “we aren’t changing anything.”

Sorry for the venting everyone but today was quite frustrating!
