Second Quarter Thoughts: Things Looking Up as the Half Ends

The Titans put together somewhat of a drive and get three, making it 3-0. The defense is playing well, as they only allow17 yards on the drive, but Rob Bironas is a solid kicker, and he drills a 42-yard field goal to make it 3-0. On the following drive, the Steelers again shoot themselves, as they get a 15-yard facemask call, but then from the 40 or so Ben is pressured and fumbles again!

Well, the D doesn’t give up big plays often, but give credit to Justin Gage and Kerry Collins on the hookup for the score to put the Steelers in a 10-0 hole. We’ve talked about Ben having big fourth quarters this year to bring the team back, but they had better get things going on offense or they are going to find themselves down by way too much to comeback today.

FINALLY! That was a big drive, and what I think I like the most is the fact they mixed the run with the pass. Parker should be happy, 14 rushes and we’re not at the half yet, and despite the only 29 yards, I think that they have to stay with the run at least a little bit. Ben is now 6-for-9 with 97 yards and a TD. Big grab by Santonio!

Quick Update on Harrison: Ed Bouchette from LP Field reported: NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Steelers Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison was taken into the locker room in the first quarter with a hip injury today.

Defense looks a little lacking here. Collins has been able to get protection and find pass catchers…wonder how much of that has to do with Harrison not being in there or not being 100 percent. I see him in there, and that’s a good sign. Collins is 10-for-14 for 119 yards with a score. Two minute warning. They need to make a stop here on third and three.

Another good drive that ends with nothing….Reed has got to make that kick, but on a good note, the second quarter ends with a very up note. We’ll see how the second half goes.
