Top 10 Moments of the 2009 Season: 10 through 6

The season is over, and it’s time to reflect. I realize that the year didn’t go as planned, as the club not only isn’t going to repeat as champs, they didn’t even make the postseason. So with that, we have to move on as only Steeler Nation can, and we’ll relive the good and the bad. So here now are the Top 10 Moments of the 2009 season, numbers 10 through 6 and then we’ll be back tomorrow with moments 5 though 1:

10. Tyrone Carter’s Pick 6 vs Denver – The Steelers were without safety Ryan Clark in the high mountains of Denver, and after a slow start vs Denver on Monday night, Carter got the team on track, picking off Kyle Orton and going 48 yards for a score to give the Steelers a lead they would never lose in the dominating 28-10 win.

9. Big Ben’s scramble and 27-yard TD throw to Fast Willie vs Cincy – Ben Roethlisberger always seems to make things happen on the run, and this play vs the Bengals in the first meeting in Paul Brown Stadium was a prime example. Following a play action, Roethlisberger avoided a sack while running to his right, and found Parker wide open and he cut through a couple defenders for the score to give the Steelers an early 10-0 lead in Cincy.

8. Roethlisberger and Wallace hook up vs Green Bay on the first play – Following their five-game losing streak, the Steelers wanted a fast start vs the Packers at home, and got it. A quick play-action was followed by a long throw from Roethlisberger to Wallace, who got behind the defense, waited for the pass, and hauled it in for a 60-yard score to give the team a 7-0 lead to start fast in a wild home win.

7. LaMarr Woodley gets to Flacco to Close out the Ravens – After the defense had allowed so many leads to go away, LaMarr Woodley finally made sure it wouldn’t happen in week 16 vs the Ravens, as he got to QB Joe Flacco on 4th and 10 from the Steelers 38 with the club nursing a 23-20 lead. The play cemented the win over the rivals, as a late penalty on Baltimore saved the win to keep playoff hopes alive.

6. Mewelde Moore throws a TD to Heath Miller – The club responded after losing two in a row to the Bears and Bengals, and came home for a Sunday night game vs the Chargers. The team built a 28-14 lead into the fourth quarter, and then pulled some trickery with a pitch to Moore, who fired a strike in the back of the end zone to Miller, who made a great catch to give the team a 35-14 lead in the eventual 38-28 win to get the team to 3-2.
