A Look Back at the 90’s, a Time When Lloyd and Greene Dominated

I love those NFL Top 10 lists on NFL Network, just watched the “Top 10 Coaches that Never Won a Super Bowl” Tuesday night, which was pretty good. The Steelers litter those lists all the time (except the ‘coaches that never won a Super Bowl’ of course), and this video is from the “Top 10 Linebacking Cores of All-Time,” and the Mid-90’s Steelers were on the list at number 7. Enjoy!

I got to meet Lloyd and when he shook my hand he nearly broke it.

That LB crew was as dominant as any in NFL history. Lloyd was just a beast. Green was relentless pressure. Kirkland was a sound tackler and imposing MIKE LB and Chad Brown was so athletic he could play inside or outside. Those 4 starters were unreal. Their backups were solid as well. Jerry Olsavsky played extremely well in 1995 when Brown was hurt, and Green was actually not resigned because his backup was Jason Gildon, who became the all-time Steeler sack leader. In all honesty, the Steeler LB’s have always been great. But that 1993-1996 run was DOMINANT!
