Roethlisberger One Of the Most Hated Men In Sports

PFT.com reports that Mike Vick is again the most hated figure in sports. He was at the top of the list back last year as well. What is interesting is the fact that Ben Roethlisberger makes an appearance on the list, coming in at 3 out of the Top Five.

Last year, quarterback Mike Vick topped a Forbes poll of the most hated persons in sports. This year, he can crack the champagne again.

Vick has landed at No. 1 for a second straight year, even though he largely has become irrelevant as a backup quarterback and part-time gimmick option for the Eagles.

The rest of the 2010 top five consists of Raiders owner Al Davis, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, golfer Tiger Woods, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

I don’t get why he should be hated at all. It was never proven that he did anything. All there has been was accusations & no proof of anything but bad decision making. At least he admitted that he has made mistakes & is trying to make up for them.

The media has placed a dark shadow over Ben

Unfortunately The Tony you are right. The constant coverage of Ben’s mistakes has caused more damage to his reputation than a video tape proving a crime is not talked about anywhere near as much. I believe the old-timers would call that hypocrisy!

Not that this has anything to do with this article but I hope Vince Young gets some sort of suspension coupled with some media scrutiny for his skirmish with the police! C’mon, Goodell, lay the hammer, baby! (but do it delicately because he’s black and we don’t want to ruffle feathers—please make sure to handle his public persona with kid gloves in lieu of the total thrashing you gave to Big ben—Make sure not to drag it on too long either because the season is about to start and it could cause a distraction and we never want to distract a [black] quarterback from getting his job done)! C’mon, Goodell, gently lay the hammer!

I agree with you Jay. I’ve not seen the coverage of this story anywhere near the heat Ben has taken. Ben was only accused & no viable proof to be charged with anything but stupidity. Vince Young was caught on camera. Let’s have some equality here.
