Steelers Won’t Face Giants QB Manning Saturda Night

In case you missed it, the Steelers won’t be going up against Giants QB Eli Manning this week, as he won’t play against the Steelers Saturday night at the teams new stadium:

Eli Manning will not play in the Giants’ preseason game Saturday night against the Steelers as a precaution after needing 12 stitches to close a cut he received in Monday night’s game against the Jets. Head coach Tom Coughlin said that he “is not going to rush things” and that Manning will throw when it is OK for him to throw. Early in the second quarter, Manning’s helmet was knocked off by RB Brandon Jacobs after a miscommunication in the backfield. The quarterback then got hit by Jets LB Calvin Pace and was sent face first into Jets FS Jim Leonhard’s helmet. Manning said he feels fine but Coughlin and the Giants do not want him to wear a helmet as there are concerns a helmet could irritate the wound or break the stitches.
