Some highlights and notes from the Mike Tomlin Tuesday press conference

The Steelers continue prep for Sunday’s showdown with the Falcons, and a couple notes that came out at today’s Mike Tomlin press conference:

* Jeff Reed is back as the kicker to handle kickoff duties. Punter Daniel Sepulveda was in the mix to handle kickoffs, but Reed cried about it, and Sepulveda wasn’t that much more impressive than Reed, which is why Mike Tomlin decided to stay with the guy that has done it the past few seasons. Sepulveda sealed his fate with a poor showing in that department against the Broncos.

* Dennis Dixon is the starter, Charlie Batch is the backup, and Antwaan Randle El is getting a handful of snaps as the emergency third QB for this Sunday. He will handle duties should both QB’s go down, as the club decided against going with a third QB on the roster.

* CB Bryant McFadden is okay, and will be the starter on Sunday vs Atlanta. He practiced on Monday, and should be a full go when the team takes the practice field tomorrow.

* Running back Issac Redman will get an opportunity in short yardage situations and in the redzone as well (hint, hint for those that may need a backup fantasy RB that could see some touchdowns in 2010).
