DT Steve McClendon promoted, LB Thaddeus Gibson released

As expected the Steelers today brought defensive tackle Steve McClendon back from the practice squad and released rookie linebacker Thaddeus Gibson.

“Linebacker is our deepest position,” Mike Tomlin said in a statement. “He is the low man on the totem pole, so we had to make that necessary move. We were thin at defensive line.”

Gibson was a fourth-round draft pick from Ohio State. McClendon was on the Steelers’ practice squad last season and was activated for two games this season, putting up a tackle and a fumble recovery against the Tennesseee Titans.

The thought is that Gibson will be signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Even though the team is deep at LB, I thought Arnaz Battle would be the odd man out and not a LB. Gibson was certainly slow to pick up the defense but in all honesty, what has Battle done to deserve a roster spot? I am not down on either player, but I figured an up-and-comer like an Ohio State LB had the inside track of maintaining a spot over a 6th WR/ST player like Battle. What do I know, right?

How long do we have to suffer with Bruce Arians? I’m watching this game and more important to me than the win/loss factor of this singular game is the fact that Arians somehow, someway welcomes back an all-world quarterback and yet the team feels as if there is some mojo or something lost from the first few games of the season when he wasn’t here. It’s paradoxical and it’s not BB’s fault. It’s just that he is a garbage OC and how long do we as fans have to stomach his suck ass play calling?!? No screens, no draw plays, no offensive line adjustments, just predictable, predictable, predictable! FUCK YOU, ARIANS!

any questions now, Steeler nation, about suck ass fuckin waste of human flesh Bruce Arians! After that abysmal first half! Our so called OC is making the suck ass Saints D look like our D! Not scoring from the 6 inch line is almost unfathomable; yeah give it to the up back inbetween the 20’s when there’s lots of real estate to defend but with one inch to defend and you’re the first man to get met, yeah so give it to the up back on first and goal from the 6 inch line! Now oyu’ve moved backwards! &%$#@ Arians. I kn ow I’m venting but it is seriously hard to watch the Steelers offense. When’s the last time we had an offensive genius play caller? No, Not Whiz, anyone could call plays with the bus, run left, run right, get in third and short and play action. I would love to hear form an Arians supporter if there’s any morons out there! SOmeone help me understand how to watch football that’s this bad!
