Shaun Suisham one kicker that will try out for the Steelers Tuesday

One name that is coming to town to try out for what could be the open Steelers kicker spot is former Redskins and Cowboys kicker Shaun Suisham.

Reports say he is among the players the Steelers will work at the kicker spot for Reed, who has made just 15 of 22 field goal kicks.

Suisham has converted just over 79 percent of his career field goal attempts. He went to training camp with the Steelers in 2005 but lost out to Reed for the kicker spot.

Another name that could get a look is longtime Ravens kicker Matt Stover, who was with the Colts last season and kicked in the Super Bowl.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

Great move. Either it focuses Reed or it eliminates Reed. At this point, I’ll take either conclusion. Steelers are rarely a Knee-jerk team, so I dont think Suisham will be kicking on Sunday.
We’ll see!! At least they are trying to be proactive and make necessary changes if they have to.

I figure it is going to take 11 wins to win the division. I do not see how this team can go 5-2 over the last 7 games. Their offensive style of play simply won’t let them. I can’t believe i am about to say this but i wish we had the Ravens style or Browns style of offense. I think the Steelers have better talent but the division foes play the type of offense that i would like to see the Steelers employ: power football. We are a finesse offense pure and simple and that won’t get it done.

I couldn’t agree more, Mike! I hate the Browns and Ravens and Bungles and absoltely detest, with the type of detest reserved exclusively for rapists and murderers, the pats! Losing to them is like losing in the super bowl…I won’t be happy until I read Brady’s obituary! But I do like Hillis in Cle. and I like the way balt runs those 3 backs out there…Why draft mendy if a.) he’s too fragile to be used for 20 plus carries per game or b.) our system doesn’t utilize a first round talent running back the way a first round talent running back should be utilized…MORE TOUCHES!

Hoorayy! Reed was once a symbol of stability but now his cocky attitude and mental lapses got him a one way ticket out of the burgh
