Three Questions With TitansGab Editor Hal Laws On Sunday’s Keys Vs The Steelers

Pitt Tenn

This week the Steelers try to get to 1-0 as they take on the Titans at home at 1pm at Heinz Field. Today we chat with TitansGab Editor Hal Laws, as he answers three key questions about the game Sunday and some strategy between these two teams.

1. What will be the biggest key for the Titans to stop the Steelers blitzes?

RUN THE BALL. Is smash and dash back? I think so. The Titans acquired Shonn Green from the Jets who is a very powerful, down hill, Running back. I fully expect him to get all of the short yards and most of the goal line work. Green is a great compliment to CJ2K. With these two on the field that Steelers blitz will be slowed down. You do not score on every running play and most of them are not pretty, but you will wear down a defense. Chris Johnson only needs 112 rushing yards to become the third player in franchise history to reach 7,000 career rushing yards, joining Eddie George (10,009) and Earl Campbell (8,574).

2. What will the Titans Defense look like with Gregg Williams?
Gregg Williams comes home to the Titans where he started his career in 1990. In his final season, the Titans ranked first in the league in defense and second in scoring defense. The Titans tallied 109 total sacks 1999-2000 and 40 takeaways in 1999. He brings the back the very physical defense that the Titans have been missing in years past.

3. How good can the Titans Offensive line be In 2013?

There was a lot of off season work done on the offensive side. Several veteran free agents who signed with the Titans as free agents during the offseason are scheduled to make their regular season debuts in a Titans uniform, including TE Delanie Walker, RB Shonn Greene, G Andy Levitre, and G Chance Warmack. Warmack can become the first Titans rookie offensive lineman to start Week 1 for the Titans since 2005. With all of these additions this offence is in a perfect storm. This year will be Lockers time to shine. Fans should expect BIG things.
