Belichick Starts Mind Games w/ Steelers Defense

Pats coach Bill Belichick is doing his best to paint a picture that the Steelers defense is unbeatable. “Nobody has gotten 300 yards against them and about half of their possessions are three-and-out,” said Belichick. “They’re really solid across the board. It’s no one-man band. They’re good at everything.” Belichick is the master at playing the mind games to make a team better than they are.

He did it back in 2001 before the same teams met in the AFC Title game in Pittsburgh when the Steelers were 10-point favorites. Now he’s back to his old tricks of giving the Steelers all the props, basically giving his team some of their own billboard material by saying they they are not good enough to beat the leagues #1 ranked defense.

Another coach with the pressure of coming up with a gameplan to beat the Steelers is offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who said yesterday that the Steelers blitz packages are nothing to sneeze at. “It’s not like they change their blitzes every week,” McDaniels said. “They run a lot of the same blitzes over and over. Even if you have a guy assigned to block, you still have to stand in there and block who’s coming. They’re not going to stop. They run through you. They run around you. They get a number of sacks when you actually have enough people to block them but you just can’t block them long enough.”

The Steelers will come in a bit banged up, as DE Brett Keisel is out with an injury, and the secondary, a unit that will be tested, is also hurting as both Bryant McFadden and Deshea Townsend are on the injury report and may or may not play in the big game.

I sleep better every night knowing that Bill Belicheat’s legacy will forever be marred because of spygate. Also, about harrison being held on every play, why can’t he hook the LT’s arm with his left arm at the LT’s left elbow and hold it in place, then take his right hand and grab the LT’s left wrist and pull it back away from his own body until he snaps and breaks the LT’s arm. I would cheer for that. Sound harsh? We’ll see how many people try and hold him after that and I don’t believe that that’s illegal (although the National Pussy league would probably find a way to fine or suspend for it).
