Steelers Could Lose LB Coach Keith Butler to the Cardinals

As usual, change is coming for the Steelers, and while most if not all of the coaching staff should stay intact, one coach that could be gone is LB coach Keith Butler.

With the Cardinals canning defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast on Friday, Butler is a possible option for that job according to NFL.com.

Ken Whisenhunt wanted to interview Butler in 2007 upon taking the job but was denied permission by the Steelers. Whisenhunt could decide to go with a more traditional 3-4 look, and Butler knows how to coach it and is obviously familiar with it.

Sounds to me like Whiz is trying to recreate the Steelers more so than ever before. Hope Butler turns him down.

It’s bad enough that Grimm and Wiz went to Zona’, but our LB coach? Pittsburgh has some of the best LBs in the league now, and it isnt just luck. It would be really hard to get young talent like Woodley and Timmons up to the NFL snuff without a coach like this. Arizona getting rid of Pendergast is troubling. How many coaches are they going to go through before they find the right pieces? Isnt a Superbowl run a good estimate of what your coaches and players are capable of?

He’s trying to recreate the Steelers in AZ by taking our coaches and players. What’s up with that? He sounded like a bitter man after the SB–he didn’t get the Steelers coaching job and his “I’ll show you” message was killed when we beat him in the Super Bowl. Some people leave for money, some stay (like LeBeau) because he loves the Rooneys and Steelers. Butler knows both Wiz and LeBeau. Hopefully, he’ll pick the better person… and team.

I think that the team should simply do what they are supposed to do – block the Cards from talking to the Steelers about Butler, and that way the Steelers will keep him. Plain and simple.

From your lips to the Rooneys’ ears!

I think Butler is the heir apparent to Labaeau if and when the genius decides to retire. Dont get me wrong, Labeau could stay as long as he wants in my book, but with the success of Steeler linebackers and under the tutelage of Labeau, Butler would be perfect as our Defensive coordinator.

Wizz is just trying to steal Pitt and place it out in the sand…like the London Bridge. Somebody beat the crap out of this arsehole in the parking lot already.

Haha, love it. Butler is still under contract so the Steelers can refuse to let Wiz talk to Butler and I hope they will do just that. Wiz is being so obvious about stealing the Steelers, you’d think the media would pounce on that…but no way that’ll happen because the Cardinals are their sweethearts. Kurt and Larry are great guys but they DIDN’T WIN THE SUPER BOWL. Fitzgerald is a great guy and he was the MVP in the pro bowl (which is the equivalent of flag football). Take what you got, Wiz, and stay the hell out of Pittsburgh!
