Aaron Smith to be on the Sidelines Watching Sunday

The dream of Aaron Smith being on the field for even a few plays Sunday against the Jets in the AFC Title Game at Heinz Field is officially over. Smith will sit Sunday according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as he was once again limited in practice, meaning he will not dress for the game. “I just did some drills and get-off stuff, things like that,” Smith said.

Smith was listed as having gone through “limited participation” in practice Wednesday. Tomlin said to the media on Wednesday that Smith has “got to perform above the line. He’s got to be consistent with that approach, whether it’s Aaron Smith or anyone. He’ll be given an opportunity to participate in preperation, and if his preperation is above the line, we’ll get into a discussion about the number of potential snaps.”

The DE did go on to say that he is feeling good. “It’s just a process,” Smith stated. Smith has been out since his triceps were torn in Miami back in October. He had surgery the following week.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

Give him the opportunity to get to 100%. Hopefully Steelers will be using him in the Super Bowl.
