Schefter: Pouncey Officially “Out” for Super Bowl XLV

According to a “league source” spoken to by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, center Maurkice Pouncey will not play in Super Bowl XLV next Sunday due to the ankle injury.

Schefter reported as such on Sunday NFL Countdown. Second-year center Doug Legursky, who has just four NFL starts to his name, is expected to get the call in Pouncey’s place. How he handles fearsome Packers NT B.J. Raji could end up being the difference between who wins and loses.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

This seems like the definition of an unofficial report, not an “official” one. Officially, he is still 50% likely to play.
