Coach Tomlin on Steelers LB Harrison: out “a number of weeks”

Steelers sack artist James Harrison will miss several weeks with a fracture of his right orbital eye socket, head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday.

Harrison will undergo surgery on Wednesday.

Tomlin adds that a groin injury to Jason Worilds means inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons will move outside to replace Harrison, who has two sacks on the season and has missed just one game over the last four campaigns.  Larry Foote will move inside to start in Timmons’ spot.

The Steelers host Matt Hasselbeck, Chris Johnson and the Titans on Sunday.

Matt Hasselbeck knows the Steelers’ defense and saw the film of last week’s game. Look for Johnson to run over his RG and RT, with TE drag routes from right to left under the coverage to exploit Farrior’s reduced speed. Hasselbeck does not have a big arm and does not throw deep often; but he will dink and dunk on a 3-step drop all afternoon. The Steelers’ D will not have much time to get to Hasselbeck. The secondary must compress the defense, jam the WRs, and deny the easy short routes.

The Titans are vulnerable to the power running game and to mid-range to deep pass routes. Redman and Moore should have a good day. Ben can exploit the Titan secondary, given time. Arians must call a mix of running and passing plays to keep the Titan rushers honest.

In spite of our injuries, I pick the Steelers to win this one.
