Steelers RB Bell Speaks On Recovery, Hitting the Hole & New RB Williams

Kansas City Chiefs v Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is working hard to come back from the knee injury that stopped him from playing in the teams playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The back spoke to Steelers.com about his comeback for 2015, stating that he’s closing in on being back and ready to roll.

“My knee is close to 100 percent,” Bell said. “I’m excited about my progress about how my body has been healing and how it’s holding up.”

Another thing Bell spoke of is how he’s ready to have a monster 2015 campaign even after he sits out three games for a suspension handed down by the league.

Bell feels that while he had a big 2014 (over 2100 yards and 11 touchdowns), he thinks that even bigger things are ahead for the back from Michigan State.

“I’m real excited about my growth, from year one to year two, and especially from year two to year three I’ve felt like I’ve learned a lot and gotten more faster and explosive,” Bell said.

“I still have a lot to prove, and I don’t think I get a lot of credit around the league that I deserve, and I am going to earn it.”

Bell told the website in the interview that he’s working on how and when he’s hitting the holes, and how he’s been working this offseason on focusing his vision when hols in the Steelers offensive line open up.

“There’s a lot of times I’ve might had hit a hole a little too early, and people consider me patient, I like to hold myself to a higher standard because there’s still some holes I feel I hit a little too quickly or routes where I didn’t get open and I want to go out there and be perfect every time,” Bell said.

“If I’m not that, I feel like I am letting myself down and my team down, I can obviously get better in a lot of things.”

Another big topic for the back and for the team is the addition of new running back DeAngelo Williams, and how he’s going to be able to fit into the teams’ offense with Bell missing the first few games.

“He’s a great guy, he fits in well and and he’s a real outgoing person, it’s crazy, I feel like he’s an older me,” Bell said of Williams.

“I feel like when I am year 10 in the league that’s how I am going to be.”

Bell says the two have become fast friends and that Williams has been able to teach the third-year back as he gets ready for what he hopes will be a season in which the Steelers get to the next level and challenge for the AFC Championship.

“He’s really showing me the ropes, showing me a lot of things, he hit me with a little bit of knowledge on things that I may not know, or things that I wasn’t really aware of,” Bell said.

“He’s really helping me out becoming a better player and a better person, even off the field.”
