Townsend Back for Monday Night; to Play Nickel Back

Deshea Townsend will be in the lineup on Monday night vs the Ravens, but it won’t be as a starting corner, but as a nickel back. Bryant McFadden will remain the starter at corner, at least for now. Really McFadden has played pretty well, so there’s no reason to put Townsend in at this point. Townsend is coming back off a bruised heel that has forced him to miss the past two games.

Let’s face it…I hate to be the bad guy but the way my life is going right now…I typically don’t subscribe to the bullshit Ed Bouchette dishes out but in a recent article in one of the local papers out in Pittsburgh, Ed seemingly finally came through with some (harsh for him) criticism saying that Mewelde Moore is not used properly (if at all), had subtle remarks in his daily question regarding the fact that Bruce Davis and Limas Sweed (if you read in between the lines) are pathetic for not even being able to make the special teams roster. He also calls out management (in his clever, objectified way) for not resigning McFadden cheaper than what he will cost at the year. Kudos to Ed for finally seemingly relinquishing his firm grasp on objectivity for the Steelers and FINALLY telling it like it is! I say this because if a (black and gold) bleeding heart says these things, then IT MUST BE TRUE. And I know that sounds like sarcasm but it’s actually not. I agree whole-heartedly and will even throw in my own…Well, Rooney’s you managed to win four super bowls in a FREE AGENTLESS ERA-kudos-great job then…I’m sorry I was too young to enjoy it. NOw, in the era of FREE AGENCY and BIG MONEY, the Ronney’s keep striking out. Oh yeah, let’s not sign anybody why don’t we (not our best LT, not our best corner, not our LG replacement); let’s compound it by SUCKING in recent drafts and totally disregarding important positions like interior depth on both sides of the ball and go after skill players who don’t contribute not even on special teams (i.e., Anthony Smith, Limas Sweed, Bruce Davis, Lawrence Timmons who doesn’t even start)…Let’s further contribute to mediocrity by retaining Arians who couldn’t coordinate a high school reunion and an offensive line coach who sounds like he belongs in an Austin Powers fucking movie, let’s further add to this symphony of spendthrifts by not playing any type of significant hand in free agency—Hey, if you’re gonna disregard free agency, then you’re not allowed to make mistakes in the draft and you’re certainly not allowed to suck in it like we have the past few years! Let’s allocate all our big money to our QB and then put five Lolly Pop Leaguers around to protect him. Are we trying to lose? And….the Eagles just lost to the fucking bears! Are you kidding me and our high school offense couldn’t manage a touchdown against them; the bears got three! I realize about any given Sunday but I guess I’m trying to incite the fans, those who bleed so liberally for our team who can never do anything wrong, that this isn’t a case of sticking with your team or not; this is a case of the product being unacceptable while it is, in reality, capable of being in a super bowl. Wow, from the head coach down to his coordinators to the players themselves, I am EMBARRASSED at our organization…Don’t forget Rooney’s to pocket all the money you get from ALL of us fans who either go to the games or and more commonly, grow up, move to other municipalities and spread the Steeler nation country and world wide while purchasing all your paraphernalia, don’t forget to thank God for all the blessings while we continue to chant, here we GO, and you continue to not play in free agency and strike out in drafts!
