First Half Thoughts: Steelers 3 Saints 3

I don’t know about Steeler Nation, but I for one feel this team blew a number of opportunities in a first half in which they dominated.

First off, why didn’t Mike Tomlin challenge the 2nd down play inside the two when it appeared that Rashard Mendenhall’s elbow hit the goal line, which should have been a touchdown?! I realize maybe he felt they had a shot to score on third down, but to me, the refs may have given him that score and the team would have led 7-0 instead of 3-0.

Jeff Reed is really starting to concern me. This to me has been his worst season, and while I realize your asking him to hit a 51-yard field goal, in a dome he needs to make that.

The defense is doing exactly what it needs to do. They are making Saints WR’s pay for every catch, and Drew Brees has been on the receiving end of a number of solid hits.

That was an awful call on Hines Ward when Ben tried to squeeze it in to him after the pick. I’ve seen guys like Randy Moss and others push off a lot worse than that. It really put the team behind the 8-ball for the remainder of the drive.

Both teams have 119 yards, and this is looking to be a 13-10 type of game. The Steelers need to be safe with the ball in the 2nd half, and need to make sure they make some plays on offense and they will be fine.

Steelers pull out the 13-10 win.

What’s with the overturn of the touchdown? There’s no way there was conclusive evidence that the tip of the ball didn’t hit the goal line.

Why can’t Pitt execute quick reads on the blitzes? They need to pressure the QB in second half and make quicker reads on offense.

wow what a disapointing game.A few thoughs for this game.I said going in if brees had time to throw we were in trouble ,and he did.the oficaiating was terrible ,so may holding calls missed all night dident help.our corners need to be upgraded next year big time.first round or trade up for the best corner ,and pick up a veteran in free agency

Pathetic… Brees 20-22 in the second half!! WTF!! 3rd Down has been an absolute joke tonight. Were in for some big BIG trouble if we cant get it together next two weeks against cinci and the pats. Its so frustrating!!

Time after time the steelers continued to shoot themselves in the foot. Miller has to hold onto the ball! That play was such a huge momentum swing. Coming off a td drive then a turnover the steelers had the game in their hands. After the fumble the game seemed out of reach. Truly a sad turn of events… But I guess weirder things have happened on Halloween

Offense was out of sync all night, and I still point to the bad execution when they had the ball 1st and goal at the one as a huge key to the game. Yes, Heath is a big goat, but the team was their own worst enemy all night.

matt, on that 1st and goal wtf why not a play action and slip out miller a td but no we run run run what a way to make it easy for them.ariens sucks ,and he has got to be replaced ,or open it up.when they are blitzing like that spread the formation out use some draw plays or screens.
our corners suck if we get no pressure we are smoked and you seen it tonight im so pissed off
